This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or make a purchase or booking from www.wyeheritage.org.uk.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

When we talk about “Personal Information” in this Privacy Policy, we are talking about Device Information, Account Information, Order Information and Email Addresses.

Device Information

When you visit our website, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the website, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to our website, and information about how you interact with our site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information.”

Account Information

If you register on our website, we also store the personal information you provide in your user profile. You can see, edit, or delete your personal information at any time (except you cannot change your username).

Order Information

Additionally when you make a purchase or booking, or attempt to make a purchase or booking, through the website, we collect certain information from you, including your name, billing address, shipping address, payment information (including credit card numbers and other payment methods), email address, and phone number.  We refer to this information as “Order Information.”

Email Addresses

When you sign up to our email list, we collect the personal information you give us including your name and email address.

How do we use your personal information?

Device Information

We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud and, more generally, to improve and optimise our website, for example by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the website.

Order Information

We use the Order Information that we collect to fulfil any orders placed through the Site (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations and for contacting you regarding logistics for our events). We also use Order Information to screen our orders for potential risk of fraud.

Email Addresses

We will never pass your email address to a third party without your permission, unless it is to enable us to process your order (for example if an item is to be shipped to you directly from a supplier and they need to contact you in relation to the order) or finalise booking arrangements for our Events (for example if a hotel requires the details of our guests).

Marketing

If you consent to receiving marketing from Wye Heritage, we may send you emails our activities and products and other updates as well as articles from our website.

If you no longer wish to receive marketing from Wye Heritage you can unsubscribe by clicking on the link in the footer of any marketing email. Alternatively you can contact us via our contact page and request your email and/or postal address to be unsubscribed.

If you opt out of receiving marketing communications this opt-out does not apply to personal data provided as a result of other activities, such as purchases, enquiries and bookings.

consent

How do you get my consent?

When you provide us with personal information to complete a transaction, verify your credit card, place an order, arrange for a delivery or return a purchase, download information from our website or make an enquiry, we imply that you consent to our collecting it and using it for that specific reason only.

If we ask for your personal information for a secondary reason, such as marketing, we will either ask you directly for your expressed consent, or provide you with an opportunity to say no.

How do I withdraw my consent?

If, after you consent, you change your mind, you may withdraw your consent for us to contact you, for the continued collection, use or disclosure of your information, at anytime, by contacting us through our contact form.

comments

When you leave comments on the website we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also your IP address and browser user agent string, to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

disclosure

We may disclose your personal information if we are required by law to do so or if you violate our Terms of Service.

payments

Where you make a payment for a product or event through a gateway such as Stripe or PayPal, some of your data will be passed to the respective third party, including information required to process or support the payment, such as the purchase total and your billing information.

Third party services and links

Embedded content from other websites

Articles and pages on this website may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if you had visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Third Party Services

In general, the third-party providers used by us will only collect, use and disclose your information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us.

However, certain third-party service providers, such as payment gateways and other payment transaction processors, have their own privacy policies in respect to the information we are required to provide to them for your purchase-related transactions.

For these providers, we recommend that you read their privacy policies so you can understand the manner in which your personal information will be handled by these providers. We do not control these third-party websites and are not responsible for their privacy practices or privacy statements.

In particular, remember that certain providers may be located in or have facilities that are located in different jurisdiction than either you or us. So if you elect to proceed with a transaction or activity that involves the services of a third-party service provider, then your information may become subject to the laws of the jurisdiction(s) in which that service provider or its facilities are located.

As an example, if you are located in the UK and your transaction is processed by a payment gateway located in the United States, then your personal information used in completing that transaction may be subject to disclosure under United States legislation, including the Patriot Act.

Once you leave our ‘on-line shop’ section of our website or are redirected to a third-party website or application, you are no longer governed by this Privacy Policy or our website’s Terms of Service.

When you click on links on our website, they may direct you away from our site. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites and encourage you to read their privacy statements.

Data retention

When you place an order or book an event through the website, we will maintain your Order Information for our records unless and until you ask us to delete this information.

Data security

We have put in place security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used, altered, disclosed, or accessed without authorisation. We also allow access to your personal data only to those volunteers and partners who have a business need to know such data. They will only process your personal data on our instructions and they must keep it confidential.

Cookies

“Cookies” are data files that are placed on your device or computer and often include an anonymous unique identifier. By using our website you agree that we can place these types of cookies on your device and access them when you visit our site in the future.
